The Bridge has been selected out of 750 national entries as a finalist in the British Journalism Awards 2024.

As one of six finalists in the Local Journalism category, The Bridge is the only news service based in the North East to be shortlisted.

‘So, SO proud of The Bridge and of Berwick to be a finalist out of more than 700 entries overall,’ said Founding Editor, Wendy Robertson.’
‘I started The Bridge in 2022 to help inform people in Berwick about what was going on in the town. There is a lot going on under the radar in Berwick with residents often left in the dark. It was always the intention to publish without fear or favour.

‘Thank you, Berwick, for your support for The Bridge. Every copy sold means there is a future for independent news in Berwick on Tweed!’

Wendy will attend the Awards ceremony in London on 12 December hosted by Jeremy Vine.

The outcome will be reported in The Bridge – come what may.

Congratulations to all the finalists for the 2024 Press Gazette British Journalism Awards for public interest journalism. And thank you to our sponsors: @StarlingBank, @amazon and @RenewableUK.
