‘The Radio Rooms was opened on 8th March 2019 and had a very successful first year run by my daughter Jemima. Covid followed and the struggle began. It was very difficult times but we kept going.
‘Karen and I took over in 2022 and kept building on the success but now I’m approaching 65 it’s time for a change of direction to spend more time with my family and pursue my own music performance, writing, gardening, and my obsession with land rovers. I will still have an interest in buying and selling guitars on a more casual basis.’
The Radio Rooms was created to provide a thriving music scene in Berwick with a proper venue for both local and touring bands. Some big names appeared and some amazing local band nights, jam sessions, open mic, workshops, pop up markets etc. and the customer base grew with fantastic support from the local community.
‘Since opening the Radio Rooms the music scene in Berwick has grown with other venues putting on regular live shows which I’m sure will continue to grow.
The premises is now on the market and will no doubt provide a new venture for someone wanting to run a business in a very prominent position in Tweedmouth.
‘I will always be very involved with the music industry and plan to be more creative with my new found time as an event organiser and musician. I have been involved in retail 48 years with a total commitment to my customers and will always be grateful for the support I have had.
