After being nominated for Best Local & Community Newsletter The Bridge attended the Publisher Newsletters Awards in London.
No win this time but to be included in such company was fantastic. The Daily Telegraph won three awards, The Financial Times, The Week and The Spectator among others.
The judges’ comments were pretty astounding really:
‘what an outstanding effort. This is all about sensing a need, endeavouring to fill it and then finding out that you were right! Sure, it’s rough and ready compared to the other entries, but it’s trying to do the same thing as them. Well done, Wendy Robertson.’
‘A labour of love. Feels more like an ezine or pdf of a magazine. Rich in content with great personality it does offer a dense rich editorial voice.’
‘I think this is a brilliant example of a start-up local newsletter that is filling a gap in the market often left by big publishers. It has a real community noticeboard feel to it which I think helps with the community it serves rather than hinders, and I think to say it is largely a one-band operation, it has a terrific amount of content.
