While it’s advised that hand-delivery is necessary for a propsective candidate’s nomination papers, the Elections Office at Northumberland County Council says there is an additional option though it carries a caveat:
‘Nomination papers must be hand delivered (not posted by Royal Mail). This can be hand delivered by a courier to a member of the elections team, however, if received in this manner, it will be formally submitted without a precheck.
‘If subsequently an error is found on the nomination paper, it will need to be formally rejected. It is therefore advisable to be hand delivered by a representative of the candidate if the candidate is not available.’
