Sammy’s Cafe Bar & Kitchen, Berwick’s newest hot spot, is now open!
The new bar at 73 Marygate is going through a soft launch while staff get up to speed. Food service is due to start on Thursday 16th.

The café-bar is located in the former WH Smith’s and was bought and renovated by another Berwick businessman, Gary Robertson.
The eatery is the latest venture from Berwick entrepreneur, Dan Inglis. Dan already runs two branches of Northern Edge, with a coffee roastery at the original Silver Street premises. He started roasting coffee in 2015 in Spittal before selling takeaway coffee at the next roastery location in The Ramparts business park. This was followed by a mobile coffee bar for events.
The first Northern Edge café was followed by a second in Marygate two years ago.
Dan told The Bridge Sammy’s Café Bar & Kitchen has created more than ten jobs.

Sammy’s is managed by Tracy Lauder who runs all three premises having started alongside Dan as a barista.

‘I was totally blown away by the support from the council (Northumberland County Counci) licensing committee which got our application through in under three weeks,’ Dan told The Bridge.
Dan hopes that other licensed businesses will follow Sammy’s in the hope that Marygate is given a new lease of life for evenings.
Current hours are 12-10pm seven days. Follow Sammy’s Bar Café & Kitchen on Facebook for any updates.
