After much speculation and ‘amusing’ rumours, the new owners of the former Aldi supermarket on North Road, Berwick have revealed the future plans for the vacant site.
The plot will accommodate Purple Rain, a ‘touchless’ car-wash, and an indoor launderette along with other services yet to be finalised.
‘There has been a lot of speculation about what this derelict building and land will be used for and I’m happy to clear up the myths, despite how amusing some of them have been,’ The Bridge was told by Claire Rodgers, Project Development Manager of the new owners, Woodcock Contracting Ltd.
‘The building has obviously been part-demolished and will be fully demolished in the near future.
‘We will then be working towards erecting a state of the art, automatic, touchless car-wash (No roller brushes here thanks!), a selection of self serve jet washes with 360* overhead booms, multiple functionality and a high bay for vans/motorhomes, etc.
‘There will be an indoor launderette, also self-serve with premium machines/ detergents available. The most powerful vacuums we could find are also in the plans, and this is just for starters.
‘We are currently in talks with other providers to determine what other services we could provide for the people of Berwick.
‘Very exciting times ahead!’ said Miss Rodgers.
