[Editor update 27/2/26: Alan Carr has clarified that he does not intend using the castle as a hotel and spa. He intends to live there.]
Alan Carr, the comedian and TV star, has bought Ayton Castle for £3.25m and Disney+ will be making a documentary of the castle refurbishment.
Carr has signed a seven-figure deal with Disney+ to film a series as he turns the Castle into a luxury hotel and spa.

The comedian recently found a new audience due to his win on Celebrity Traitors, filmed at Ardross Castle in the Highlands.
Here’s to a little Carr stardust (‘Carrdust’, if you will!) falling on beautiful Berwick!
Not to mention jobs, visitors, celebrities etc…

Did they survive their journey from Branxton? I loved the Menagerie and visited from the early seventies onwards.

The minute I saw ‘Netflix’ I had a nightmarish vision of Harry and Megan Windsor posing in the Italian Garden.

I hope that Alan retains the public access that the current owners have worked so hard to provide the local community with. It’s a fantastic place to walk around in all weathers.
